Directories

Stool Sample Webcomics: Stool Sample Webcomics began approximately 20 years ago as Stool Sample Comics a small print, independent comic company in New England, featuring creators mainly from the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth. The old company featured about 10 comics, its flagships being JesusMan! and Fat Bug. The company was partnered by the interent personalities now known as Dr. Murk and Malach the Merciless. The company had a nice run but folded in 1995. In 2002, the partners decided to revivie JesusMan! as a webcomic, and formed Stool Sample Webcomics as a offshoot of Malach's art and web design business. Soon The Wraith followed, and after a bit of demand, Fat Bug was revitalized.

Soon, we began hosting other webcomics, beginning with the Ned the Series , which was bashed off the Drunk Duck Network and a highly acclaimed newpaper comic from the midwest Notched Blade. 2 years later, not only has our traffic gone through the roof (it has effectively increased by 1500%), we are pushing 20+ titles, ranging from video game based sprite comics, one shot gags, serialized adventures, and political cartoons. We also host stuff that has been the source of controversy, and threatened with legal action, like the Cthulhu Chick Tract.

We have also began adding webcomics to our directory that we don't host, as part of the Stool Sample Webcomics Network. Color Me Stupid is an example of this. If you are a former comic book creator from the Stool Sample Comics era, please contact me, I would love to revitalize your comic as a webcomic.

The Reading Room: The Reading Room began about a year ago, at the request of a fan to host his fiction. It has since expanded to host mainly fiction and fan fics. We also reprint old stories that are hard to find, like The Eye of Argon.

Art Galleries: Our art galleries were also started a year or so ago. It was initially started as a way to get some exposure for some of the RubberSuit Studios art students and quickly expanded after several student got commissioned work or sold pieces from the site. Unlike a site like Deviantart, our galleries are readily searchable by search engines. We also track images to see how they are being used, and inform the artists.

RubberSuit Records: RubberSuit Records were formed to host the music of the parody band, Crap Vacuum, it has has expanded to included other small independent bands. We will host your music, or link up to it's hosting source while providing you with webspace.

Submissions and how they work

Unlike a lot of other hosting sites, we don't just give web space to do with as you please. You may have noticed, sites like that (Deviantart, MySpace, Forums, Blogs, Albino Blacksheep, Ebaum, etc) seem to have much less weight with search engines, that a carefully crafted site does. This affords you more outside hits, and more unique visitors, straight from search engines. We don't limit you from becoming part of these other sites, go right ahead, we will still host and promote your stuff. In addition, we will never charge you, we offer unlimited space, don't limit subject matters, and never retain any rights to your intellectual property.

To submit, you must email Malach, from there Malach and his partners will jury the work, and make a descision on whether or not we will publish it. We look for a certain spirit, and we do not limit subject matter. We published 99% of the stuff submitted.

What you get by joining our family is exposure. I promote everything on this site equally, you will get billing in our RSS feed, and everywhere on the web I promote stuff, everytime you update. You will also get a section in our forums to do with as you please. If ever your stuff is sold, gets big, or whatever, we don't seek any cut or monetary compensation, all we ask is that you remember us. You can even create your own store, and we will advertise it in our own store.

So then, you may be wondering what I get out of this. Well it is real simple. I get more exposure, more hits, more visitors, and more popularity. I reserve the right to post any advertising on your pages, and keep 100% of that advertising. Ultimately, I would like to make enough off of advertising to pay you to be part of the family.

Again, submitting is easy, all you do it submit the stuff, we do all the work. Contact us at rubbersuitman@rubbersuitstudios.com with submission, questions, ideas, and propositions.
